Its for the OPA Order of the Painted Arrow. You got it after you were "tapped out" during the huge bonfire. To earn it you had to wear a twig around your neck and not speak for three or four days. If you did you got a notch on the stick after three notches you got disqualified. I can proudly say I was in the OPA my first year of camp.

That is the OPA. Nudelman reminded me of it weeks ago. Nudelman and I got tapped in 1970 when we were in bunk 13. Its funny I do not remember much else about it.

OPA, I'm a member (and owner of this patch)! After you make it through a day of silence, you get tapped out during the huge camp fire behind the N (or is it M) bunks. Thanks to my Mom for including in a memories book she created for me on my 30th birthday. More artifacts to follow...
