IT'S BOY GIRL SING AGAIN!

This Boy Girl song moment is brought to you by Lori Smith:

Toyland is here tonight
In song we do unite
To bring to you a story of delight
A time that still remains
Our actions will refrain
The blood and guts
Of your team's civil war ...
Waking their soldiers
Starting them marching
All in step and side by side
With no intentionOf life's repention
We will always sing in pride!

Set to “Those Were the Days” and the theme from “Babes in Toyland”

Who remembers other themes? Who remembers other songs? We're looking for more songs from Boy Girl Sing and Color War. If you remember any send 'em on in and we'll put them up for all to sing along!

Great Post, Shelley; great memory, Lori.

Sorry I can't remember ANY songs at all. Hope someone will refresh my memory.

"Friends, friends, friends... we will always be..." is all I can remember.

I do remember one song that was sung to The Bands "The Weight" which went something like:

Give your kids to Mendy, give your kids to Vim. Give your kids to Mendy and, and , and, make a wreck out of him.

I can't remember any more of it.

Thanks Stuart that's a good one! We'll add that to the playlist we're compiling.

Shelley, a POKAMONA playlist. What a wonderful idea! Stuart, that is classic! You brought back memories of Comic Songs:

The H20 at Pokono is really quite obscene. We swim in it, we play in it, we find it in the stream. The chlorine-laden stuff just never, ever ends its use 'cause after the pool, the cesspools, too, we find it in our juice.

Then there's Jeffrey Messinger at camp we call him Mess. He's got a reputation as the fastest in the west. Wendy Hoppenwasser completes the officer team, but, wait a sec, she hurt her leg so Gail danced on the scene.

Karen Greenberg's family has been at camp for years. Anywhere you're standing a Greenberg may appear. There are so many of them that soon before you know, the camp mast-head may soon be read Camp Greenberg-Pokono.

Lori, please give us a little history lesson for those of us who don't know (or can't remember)...

When were Comic Songs sung?

What is the difference between "Boy-Girl Sing" and "Colorwar Sing"?

Was there a winner? When and where were the practices? Who led the teams?

Lori I continue to be absolutely amazed at what you remember from camp! I'm looking forward to hearing about Comic Songs too because I have no recollection of who wrote them, sung them, when they were performed. Thanks!

I was a color war general- years of 1962 thru 1965. We had comic songs then (along with an alma mater, and [Ithink]a marching song during Color War sing. The comic songs made fun of everyone/everything-counselors, camp, directors, campers, etc. Mostly, they were good natured and very funny.

The Boys camp theme for Boy-Girl Sing in 1963 was The Pirates, and our theme for 1964 Summer was "The Defenders of the Alamo. The boys camp won the Sing for these two years. I can still remember the lyrics to the theme songs for these two years.
